Bargaining Update #5. Bargaining update for Dec 17

We deserve a fair contract

Monday, we concluded our fifth and final bargaining session of 2018. We achieved a lot: We delivered 8 proposals including new proposals for family-friendly benefits, paid leaves, housing, and a retirement plan. We also received 5 counter proposals from the administration.

One of the proposals we discussed was on workload protections, where we have substantial differences with the administration. We are determined to win the right to address workload abuse for all student workers, while the administration’s proposal provides no recourse to student workers facing unreasonable work expectations.

While the administration agrees that time at the table is helpful in finding solutions, they have offered us infrequent dates and refuse to give us more time. It’s critical that we get more bargaining time so that we can get a contract this academic year. Please sign the petition to demand more bargaining time!
