Workplace grievance reports

One important role of our union is to protect you in the workplace and advocate for your safety and rights. HGSU’s Contract Enforcement and Education Committee (CEEC) has a central role in this task and works both to inform student workers of their guaranteed rights, protections and benefits under our contract, and to enforce them. Each month CEEC publishes a report of all of the workplace issues they are working to resolve, with and on behalf of student workers. Check out these monthly grievance reports, anonymized testimonials from student workers CEEC has been able to help, and CEEC’s infographic on how to file a union grievance below!

If you are experiencing a problem at work, you can use this confidential form to contact CEEC.

You can use this form to ask a question, request a union representative, or just let your union know about your situation. No actions are taken unless you want to move forward. You always have the right to union representation. And in many cases, we can enforce our rights with our grievance and arbitration procedure. This process may include informal discussions, interim measures, formal grievance filing, and/or arbitration. Please contact CEEC even if you are unsure that you would like to pursue a formal grievance. This information will be used to connect you with a trained CEEC officer to learn about your options and rights. Your information will not be shared beyond CEEC without your consent. Every worker deserves a safe, equitable and accessible workplace – we hope the steps you take in filing a workplace issue form will help create a better workplace for you and for student workers like you.
