So far, only members have funded this union—but everyone (yes, that means non-members) gets contract protections. We are asking for what’s called a “fair share fee” to ensure that the Union has adequate resources to defend all our workers’ rights. Without financial stability, we can’t enforce the contract or fight back when Harvard breaks the rules. Arbitration to get someone their missing pay or protect against harassment can cost over $10,000.
Without funding, our contract is worthless if we can’t afford to enforce it: and Harvard knows this. Legal battles with Harvard can cost upwards of $10,000+ per case. Without resources, we can’t defend workers who face harassment, wage theft, discrimination, or retaliation. If you benefit from the union, you should help support it and pay it forward to other workers.
