Yesterday we had our 11th bargaining session. We have approximately 40 proposals on the table, and yet we received only one counter-proposal from the administration today.
Sign our petition to pressure the administration and RSVP to the #TimesUp Harvard rally on Wednesday, March 13th at 12pm using this form.
In today’s session, we passed counter-proposals on discipline and discharge, international student worker rights, workspace and materials, and union access and rights. We had productive discussions about how we can protect international student workers from incidents like the Muslim ban and other discriminatory practices during travel.
Today’s session reminded us that the administration is willfully ignorant to the ways that the current system for addressing discrimination and harassment is failing student workers. They gave no response today on harassment and discrimination protections, even after receiving hundreds of emails from students across campus last week on the anniversary of the Chronicle article on Jorge Dominguez’s decades of harassment of student workers. They will not move on strong protections against discrimination and harassment unless we—student workers and supporters across campus—make them.
This is why we will gather next Wednesday, March 13th at 12PM at the Science Center Plazato say #TimesUpHarvard, we want a #ContractNow.
It is clear that now is the time for us to come together and stand up for our civil rights.
