HGSU-UAW represents a diverse membership across all campuses, programs and departments at Harvard and strives for a democratic workplace that elevates the voices of its most vulnerable. A union can provide the financial security to sustain a more racially and economically diverse student body and gives voice and empowerment to students from underrepresented communities. The HGSU-UAW’s Civil Rights Committee specifically advocates for equitable treatment of women, LGBTQ individuals, underrepresented minorities, individuals with disabilities, people from working-class backgrounds, and members of other marginalized groups.
